Skiff a Brooklyn Tweed Hat and some of my knitty buddies!

It is amazing how one strong wind and a cold front moving in can change the seasons abruptly. Over night the leaves are blown off the trees and we are left with stark silhouettes across a stormy sky. I knit the hat above way back in September. I saw this yarn, Debbie Bliss Luxury Aran and Skiff, a new Brooklyn Tweed pattern and I had to do it. I knit it for my husband and he really likes it. But my friend Shannon did the modelling for me. She likes it a lot! (you can see her mailbox in the background). She is a great knitter and we can talk for long periods of time about patterns and wool and all the projects we can do!

It's a great hat, looks good on everyone. It was an interesting  and a fairly quick knit. It started with a tubular cast om, which can be most annoying and rewarding at the same time. It was so warm here on Friday, it hit 16 C. Today it is more seasonal , around 8 but I see it's going to dip down this week with highs of -1 to -3. Not excited about the overnight lows of -10 , we cannot complain here for one minute. I think we were the only corner of the continent that escaped the Polar Vortex last year. We had a fairly mild winter with little snow.

This is my friend Isobel. She is the best and I know she does not like having her picture taken!

Isobel, you are such a great sport! She is a super knitter and so much fun to be with. You know, there are just some people you just have the greatest laughs with . I think she is knitting six pairs of socks this fall for her dentist and his staff (?) and many other assorted projects. Isobel was the one who got me reading Jean's blog (Jean's Knitting), which lead to Kristies blog (North of 49), lead to Meredith's (Mereknits) and Tammy (Casa Mariposa) , Nicole (Garden Diaries), Jennifer (Three dogs in a Garden), Annie (Annie Cholewa), Amy (love made my home) and on and on it goes. It's a multiplier effect.  All great blogs!! This in turn gave me a kick start to resume blogging again, which may be a good or bad thing depending on your perspective! Ha!

We had another family moving job this month. Good times. There is nothing like a move to bring a family together, lol. That is IT for the winter!!

Keep Smiling Friends!

    1. Hey Nicole, yes Shannon and Isobel are pretty cute! I am trying with this blog, it seems to take me forever to write a post, and I don't really write very much! Its all good though! Gotta keep on the happy and positive side my friend! Ok my deal with blogger is sometimes when I hit return , to start a new sentence, the cursor goes smack in the middle of the page and I can't see to get it to re correct. So all my sentences start in the middle of the page. Drives me a little bugs! grrrr. in the grand scheme of things it is no biggie. Have a great week! Chris

  3. You have great friends! Love the hat - it's quite similar to one I knit for my husband recently. He's just started wearing it now as the weather has turned colder. Of course he wouldn't model it for my blog!

    1. Thank you Meredith, I am trying my best here! You would love Isobel , she is great. I just heard from her and she knit 5 pairs of socks in 3 weeks, and that's with sock yarn. Unbelievable! She said her dentist and his staff were so surprised and very pleased. No doubt! Have a super week! Chris

    1. Yes Archie looked quite dapper haha! I see some of my yarn balls are disappearing they are gently and lovingly placed under our bed. They are his babies. I love the BT patterns, I wish a had a drawer full of his sweaters, They are sooo nice, I saw some at a trunk show at Beehive Yarns. Amazing! Have a great week Chris

  10. I LOVE the hipster Westie shot! And that is a great hat :)

It's great isn't it, the way one blog leads to another. I nearly went to Shetland with Jean and Kristie last year, I was so sad when in the end I couldn't make it, and I had my flight booked and paid for and everything. Knitters are just the best.

  11. Ohh no that's terrible, must have been a huge disappointment for all of you. Oh man, that really bites! I feel really bad for you :( I love all the new blogs I read and follow, we may live in very different places in the world but we all face the same ups and downs life throws us .
The hat is pretty popular around here and I have had a few requests for exactly the same hat same colour. I am not a fan of doing the same thing more than once or twice, at least the colour can be different!
I agree, knitters are the best! Have a great week!

    1. Thank you Karen, Isobel is gorgeous. I think she has finally forgiven me for putting her up on my blog! Looks like there is hat knitting coming up, it's a popular pattern.
